Ceramic Sinks
Ceramic sinks have been around for a long time. But that hasn’t stopped the design team at Kraus from reinventing the wheel… or triangle. That’s right. These talented designers have taken the ceramic sink and put a twist on it… or in this case a few points.
Ceramic is a form of pottery. Pottery is made from a blend of clays, filler, and fluxes that are fused together during the firing process. After this, the familiar white (in most cases) glaze is applied and that is then fused with chemicals during the same firing process. When the entire process is complete you are left with a work of art that is pleasing to the eye and also durable. Since the firing process is something that we can control, it makes it much easier to create basins, or sinks, in varying shapes and sizes. Kraus has designed everything from circles to squares, shallow to deep and even egg shaped and triangular sinks.
The most common color for ceramic sinks is white. However because we can control that during the firing process, we can have virtually any color we desire. These sinks are manufactured very similarly to a ceramic tile, which as we know, can be made in an array of colors and designs. Kraus currently has both white and black models available.
As for the durability of the ceramic sink it can certainly hold it’s own against its competitors. The chemical compound used during the firing causes the sink to be resistant to fading, staining, and burning. It can not be scratched or affected by acidic chemicals.
Kraus works hard to bring you these exquisite pieces of art and hold true to the usability of the product. We think that they have certainly mastered this goal. Kraus strives to not only meet their customer’s expectations, but to always exceed them.
