Kraus Tuscan Glass Vessel Sink
We recently received a new product from Kraus, a reputable kitchen and bath design and manufacturing company that we regularly test and review. The product they sent us was so… mystifying, we decided to give it a review of its own. They sent us the new Tuscan Glass Vessel Sink and when we first took a look at this product it was like a light bulb went off. As both a product reviewer, and an interior designer myself, as other some of our other staff members here, we were thrilled to see that the artists and designers at Kraus had developed a vessel sink that could easily transition from the ultra traditional space, to the ultra modern space.

Many homeowners who prefer a traditional design, still desire that artistic flair. With that said, most artistically inspired sinks, CAN transition into a traditional setting, but still tread too closely to the contemporary/modern look; a look that some ultra traditional clients do no love. The challenge then becomes finding a traditional looking vessel sink that still has artistic tones without loosing its hold to traditional design. We knew we had found this when we first saw the Kraus Tuscan Glass Vessel Sink. This darkly colored sink encompasses rich and traditional hues such as amber, rich dark reds, heavy browns, and even areas of black. The colors are compiled in a way that makes this vessel sink look like it is hundreds of years old. The old world inspired sink would make one think that it was just dug up out of the ground of an ancient Mayan ruin. To add to this effect, artists placed spiral designs in three places in the vessel sink. These designs provide an interest through texture on the outside and a visual interest on the inside.

While this sink is constructed from durable, tempered, glass (a double heating processes intended to strengthen the durability of the glass material), first glance wouldn’t even hint that the material was glass. Glass is an easily manipulated material and in the case of the Tuscan Glass Vessel, the designers wanted this sink to look aged and old world. Glass was the perfect medium to achieve this look as it can be manipulated through form, texture and color.
