There are many different types of bathrooms to choose from. Every bathroom has its own unique set of features. You must consider the type of bathroom you are renovating before deciding on how you go about renovating it. Make sure you are familiar with the bathroom you are renovating. There are a variety of bathrooms from master bathrooms, powder rooms, kid’s bathrooms and shared bathrooms.

Master bathrooms are the largest of the bathroom variety. Conventional master bathrooms are made up of two sinks, a toilet, and shower. Larger master baths have extra space for jacuzzis, saunas, and other spa-like amenities. When remodeling a master bathroom you must keep in mind the amount of people who are using the bathroom. If there are two people using the bathroom, you may want to consider spacing the sinks for convenience. It is best to space the sinks a few feet apart. For people looking to expand a smaller master bathroom, consider expanding into neighboring bedrooms, closets, or even the master bedroom itself. The master bathroom is usually the most elegant bathroom in a home.

Shared bathrooms are bathrooms which are used by two or more people. These bathrooms must function properly due to their purpose. Professionals suggest that a shared bathroom should have two sinks. If your bathroom only has one sink contemplate adding a second one. This sink must be tailored to the needs of all the people using it. You don’t want to make this the most luxurious bathroom in your house because of its constant use.

Another popular bathroom type is the kid’s bathroom. The mainstay of kid’s bathroom renovation is its safety. It is important that you incorporate safety features when remodeling a child’s bathroom.

The following can be done to insure a child’s safety:

• Cap all electric outlets to prevent a child from getting shocked
• Remove all electrical items
• Don’t store any medication, dangerous, or toxic items in cabinets
• Latch cabinets to prevent child access
• Add child safe nightlights
• Install a floor which is slip-resistant.
• Install scald-free valves on all showers and tubs
• Remove soap bars and shampoo from bathtubs
• Use a nonskid bath mat for bathtub floors
• Use protective covers for tub spouts to prevent bumps and burns

When remodeling a child’s bathroom you should choose an interesting color scheme or pattern. A child’s bathroom should be fun and be inspired by a theme of your choosing. Remember this room must be made with your child’s taste in mind.

Another bathroom type is the powder room. Powder rooms are bathrooms which don’t have a shower or bath tub. This type of bathroom is the smallest of all bathroom varieties. These bathrooms are usually guest bathrooms. Powder rooms are typically the least expensive to remodel because they are the smallest. With a powder room you can take chances with color schemes and designs. This is the one bathroom where you can take chances. It is important to get proper ventilation in a powder room or install a window if there aren’t any installed. Remember that since this is the smallest bathroom it is the easiest to accentuate with luxury bathroom décor.
